(Updated) Independence Day, The Filipino Version!

So this past Saturday (June 6th) me and the homie Benjamin Buttonz, Arne Asada, his Tortilla, and the Ronsta decided to pay some homeage to our culture and attended Filipino Independece day @ the Vet.

The “Youth” stage where all your Jerkin’, EMO, Hip-Hop, Homeboy who couldn’t sing,  “I Let it Goooo”, needs are met.

We go to checkout the booth’s/tents and we see this. MUTHF&*KING HALO HALO CREPES? Ohhhh boy!

img_3695

Being that we were at a Filipino event, I KNEW we’d see kids with their Ukelele’s. Sighting 1 (this is within 15 mins of arriving).

Next booth is USA Pizza. Now I’m no genius, but please tell my why this guy decided to have a PIZZA booth at a Filipino event?

img_3669

All we could do was LOL. Even the kid behind him is like “WTF?” This is equivalent to selling Chinese food during a Cinco de Mayo parade, get with the program mayne!

Kids with Ukelele’s Sighting 2.

And YOU KNOW it ain’t a Filipino festival without the BALUT!!! We’ll call this segment “Eating with UTT” (stolen from FM, thanks guys.)

img_3671

For those of you that don’t know. Balut=baby duck that is close to hatching, but is semi-embroyoed and boiled to cook. You might have seen this on Fear factor with all the contestants gagging and dry heaving just looking at it. Hahaha Filipino’s eat these like chips!

Benjamin Buttonz givin’ us an example of how to do work!

img_3672

To give you an idea of what is inside those eggs, this is a bigger version of what the egg should become. We was all wondering where this girl got this duck?

img_3674

I turn around and see homeboy sellin’ em straight out the box. One duck for $5 bucks! These sold like hotcakes. Me and the homies came to the conclusion that these were the lucky ducks that made it to a full term of life.

img_3676

$5 bucks? What do you do? How can you pass up a deal like that? So I went ahead and bought a DUCK! LOL right after I bought this, I thought “Why in the hell did I just buy a DUCK?” And yes, homeboy sellin’ em kept it extra Filipino and broke out a paper bag, and straight handed me this duck in the bag.  We’ll come back to our Duck Tales in a few…

Benji Buttonz went ahead and kept it “hella” Pinoy and bought himself some new Puka Shells. Be on the lookout for the cute Filipino brining back the Puka Shell swag for the Summer 09.

I guess it’s Filipino to sell Kites and toys?

img_3684

How could he pass up the deal of a dollar kite? (Uhhhh, heyyyy, your my neighbor right?) Lol

img_3693

That boy Arne Asada gettin’ his Architech on putting together this piece of shit kite.

img_3686

This ‘lil ass big kid enjoying his gargoyle kite. Goal=get this baby in the air. The Boogie Ronsta and Donald Duck in the cut.

img_3689

C’mon guys get ready…

img_3691

FLY!!!!! We left since we failed to fly that kite. So I couldn’t wait to get home and feed, I mean show the duck to my dog.

And the Duck and the Dog lived happily ever after. Goodbye
