How did you come up with your DJ name?
It’s actually a nickname that my family gave me growing up. Except the way they pronounce it is “Boootz” (which is a way of saying fat baby in our language, still fat, but I is grown now!), when I asked them to spell it out they said “B-U-T-C-H”.

What was your first ever DJ name?
DJ Bounce. Wow…

What was your first DJ setup?
I took it up a notch and bought the Gemini DJ in a Box level 2 package (PT-1000’s and a 626 3 channel mixer) which I thought came with automatic skills.

Who were/are your influences coming up as a DJ?
Plenty, but a few notable names/crews, E-Man, Icy Ice, Curse, Melo-D, the entire Beat-Junkie Crew, ISP, The Allies, 5th Platoon, STA.

How would you describe your style?
It’s like Baskin Robins, I got you covered with 31+ flavors!

Favorite song/artist?
No one particular song/artist. But a lot of the west coast legends like Dr. Dre, Snoop, NWA, Ice Cube, etc. have a high ranking on my list.

What song do you always have to play at a gig and why?
Always gotta play something classic (for me that’s mostly westcoast) and something that I feel is a new, fresh, dope track.

Besides DJing, what other activities do you enjoy?
Sports, reading, cruising @ the beach, quick trips to Vegas, card games.

What was your first ever DJ gig?
The homie Josh’s birthday party where I only had about a crate of records (ended up playing random b-side joints), some bunk home stereo speakers (which I blew out), and a Realistic 50 watt amp.

Describe your best and worst experience at a gig.
Best – whenever the crowd is rockin’ with me and everyone comes to party.
Worst – whenever some dumb ass messes with the equipment and music stops, looks at the DJ, and you hear…”BOOOOOOO!!!”.

Favorite food?
Grandmamma’s home cookin’ is always good. Rice Things, 5GBF’s, Chick-fil-A (If any of the owners are reading this, please send all gift-cards/complimentary coupons to butch@underthetablecrew.com). Big dogs gotta eat, WOOF WOOF!

Favorite after hours spot to eat after a gig is…
The Kettle, Diana’s, LA dirty dog carts (big up to the homie Noah on Las-Palmas), Bossa-Nova, Full-House, any 24-hour Mexican joint, Jack-in-the-Box drive-thru, Denny’s, if all else fails…sleep!

What advice do you have for up and coming DJs?

Practice your craft with regularity. Get that network on.
